Project profile and on-site challenges

The project is located in remote areas of high altitude and provides reliable electricity for critical infrastructure and for on-site production loads. The system uses 5.064 MWh storage, photovoltaic, diesel generators in synergy, and is designed for engineering conditions such as high altitude, extreme temperatures, long distance transport and unstable communications.

ALT
High altitude and low pressure At an altitude of approximately 4,600 m, the air is thin, and equipment heat dispersion and insulation are required to be re-calibrated.
TEMP
The temperature is wide. -25°C ~25°C with a temperature difference of over 50°C.
ROAD
Long and complex transport routes More recently, the city has about 230 km, with steep slopes and long transport cycles of equipment.
O&M
Length of spare parts The key spare parts and on-site transportation cycle of approximately 5-12 weeks require the establishment of a local spare parts strategy.
COM
Unstable communications Satellite communication bandwidth was limited and the system had to maintain local autonomy when networks were disrupted.

Energy Management System (EMS) Local control + remote monitoring
  • Load classification and strategy management
  • SOC retains and sets off diesel.
  • Power generation/ storage power distribution
  • Local autonomy under communications fault
  • Run event and data records

Mixed energy strategy and engineering achieved

SOC

SOC Reserve Policy

Keep SOC 20% - 80% of the day-to-day running windows, and raise SOC to higher reserve levels before extreme weather and important tasks.

DG

Generators activated efficiently

(a) SOC automatically activates diesel engines when below the threshold;

LOAD

Load management and peaking

Protection of critical loads on a priority basis, and energy stress limits or removes low-level loads in sequence.

COM

Communication interruptions maintained control

Local EMS is maintained; AutoSync policy, data and event recording after communications are restored.

!

Anomalous processing path

Battery temperature, diesel failure, critical communications or electrical abnormalities are automatically protected and placed in project safety.
